technical explanation of SkyLighting
Could someone (Boris?) please explain what SkyLighting is in more technical terms? I have heard people say it is like SSAO, except with a larger radius. Okay, but is it actually SSAO or just a similar technique? For example, does it take into account the direction of the sun? Is it only applied to shadowed areas? I am interested because it gives a nice looking global illumination effect, but it runs quite well on modern hardware. Thanks.

Re: technical explanation of SkyLighting
What you heard is correct, it's ambient occlusion at much bigger ranges, so it's modify ambient color (reduce it).
