Only other option is to follow Sheson's guide or try reinstall/new preset

Re: Massive Framerate drop in main Skyrim zone after short t

I just tried ReservedMemorySizeMb=1024 out of my 1280 total onboard, and it seems to have lasted for a couple of cell changes. Then 9fps happened.
The idea was from the Boris's comment stating that people with less then 1gb of VRAM can try setting reservedmemorysizemb to their VRAM amount. I'm a little above 1gb, but it's still pretty close.

I don't understand why you have this problem. When i was with 512 mb of GF9600GT it was fine with official texture packs. When i purchased 2gb GF650Ti, it also was fine even if i fill video memory with garbage to keep 512 mb free only (that's my generic condition for tweaking memory manager). Low performance is only result of textures not being unloaded, as i tested and don't have memory leaks, then if they occur for you, it's crapware, antivirus or some skse plugin doing this. Otherwise it's changes made to game config that it acting like that. I don't see other reasons.

Configs are nearly default. Only required edits, and things related to controls like mouse acceleration. Not using any of those graphics card utilities. Av is not the reason too, i'm not using a resident AV. Just periodic checks with CureIt and AVZ if i spot something suspicious.

I'll try regenerating configs and running without SKSE plugins then.

Why do i have 0mb mod memory usage? Is this normal?

Its not normal. There's something wrong on your end.

0 mb mod memory usage is measured by d3d and it fails when video memory size is too big. DirectX9 was released in 2003, videocards had 128 mb vram max at that time. Just ignore that value, it do nothing.

I believe this is usually caused by Skyrim eating up too much system resources? I've had a similar thing using ENB before where my sound pops, and suddenly my game runs at 5fps.

Can't say anything about that for sure.

Re: Massive Framerate drop in main Skyrim zone after short t

Hey guys,

I think i have a similar problem as the OP. I run a GTX 970 / Win10 x64 / 16GB RAM, and have a heavily modded Skyrim (but not over the top, instead i used the STEP guide and added some other important stuff). Rudy ENB, v.308.

Generally, it works without problems. ATM the game runs 22-30fps outdoors and 30-45 indoors. Almost never crashes. But sometimes, after a load, i get 5-9fps and it stays that way. After i exit the game and start again - same thing.

I discovered that when i Alt-Tab to desktop, and then switch back into game*, it's running at 25-30fps again.

*To get the game back, i have to: switch to Skyrim, then switch to another app, then switch to Skyrim again, then wait 30-60sec to lose the black screen.

So, what could be the problem? Am i running out of memory? (Skyrim Performance Monitor does not work correctly here, so i have to ask - is there another way to measure VRAM usage?)

Have you tried to press key to free vram? Don't remember, F4 probably assigned. Otherwise, tweak memory manager in enblocal.ini.
