Re: Fallout 3 / New Vegas 0.322

That's what i thought too, but i downgraqded to drivers from a year back, and it runs at a steady 60fps now.
So even though the AMD card is faster, the 1060 does run smooth at 60fps, would be weird if it wouldn't with a 10 year old game after all.

Definitely, there is something wrong with the latest Nvidia drivers and Fallout New Vegas. I have a game installed on the disk for a few years, earlier (old drivers) it runs relatively smoothly, now it is almost unplayable.

Re: Fallout 3 / New Vegas 0.322

All drivers seem to do it with me..it started again, but now i know it's a game problem, one that is there already for a very long time, only it manifests differently each time and on different cards, only my R9 290x didn't seem to be affected at all by this.

If i go into menumode or pipboy (which is menumode) and come out, the game starts jumping from 30fps to 50 and back constantly, makes it unplayable, is perfectly reproducible everytime.
quicksave and quickload right after fixes it, till you go in the pipboy or menu again, and it starts again rightaway.

I had this years ago too with my Radeon 5870, only then it got progressively worse when playing for longer, and didn't make the fps jumps in gamemode, just lagging in menumode, but had no effect when you got back to gamemode, but quicksave and load always fixed it, so it is a gamebug, memory leak error so i've been told.
Don't know if that is possible, not a hardware specialist and coding guru, maybe Boris has an idea.

Probably has nothing to do with NVidia cards itself, but manifests in a slightly different way with this new NVidia card.

Before my Radeon 5870 long ago i had a GTX 275, and that card didn't do that at all either, just like my R9 290x.
Don't think any driver is going to fix it, but some ENB settings might be able to fix it.

I've been reading that disabling the drivers memory manager was ment to be used with AMD only, but can it also be used with NVidia Boris ?
And might you have any gut feeling as to what it could be ?

Re: Fallout 3 / New Vegas 0.322

HAH ! Fixed It !!!

I suddenly remembered that i couldn't get Fallout New Vegas to run properly on many occasions, everytime i installed it (bought it a few times even to see if different versions would behave differently to no avail), i had lagging and crashing, that went on for years actually everytime i wanted to play, and NVAC didn't cure it either.
But i got FNV running very stable for more then a year now, it never lags and crashes anymore, and i remembered that i had to set my audio device to 16-bit 48000Khz instead of what's become common nowadays 24-bit 96000Khz, and set the audiocache to 8192Kb in the ini file and Install the MADFilter.ax direcshow mpeg codec into the system.
After that i never had troubles anymore with Fallout New Vegas.

So i did the exact same thing in Fallout 3 and tadaaaaaaa, no more lag and fps jumping around when coming out of the pipboy or any other menu !!
It does sometimes jump to 30 fps for a second when going into a menu, but when you come out, it happily runs at 60fps again and DOES NOT LAG anymore !!

Anyways, i just played for (EDIT) 2 hours and couldn't trigger it anymore by going into any menu or container whatsoever..so...fixed !

Re: Fallout 3 / New Vegas 0.322

Re: Fallout 3 / New Vegas 0.322

Все необходимое для ssao есть в enbeffectprepass.fx, нет ни одной причины использовать enbeffect.fx для этого.

Re: Fallout 3 / New Vegas 0.322

Added stutter fix parameter to enblocal.ini, which is requested replacement of high precision timer.
Sorry if I'm blind, but I can't see this option on the enblocal.ini

How do I turn it on?

Re: Fallout 3 / New Vegas 0.322

It was removed, as it had no effect according to Boris. I guess the timer that is replaced by the New Vegas Stutter Remover mod is a different one?

Re: Fallout 3 / New Vegas 0.322

Would it be possible to get skybox dithering, the same thing that ENB for Skyrim has? There's some pretty awful colour banding due to there only being one colour gradient in New Vegas (sky upper <-> sky lower, no sky middle).

Re: Fallout 3 / New Vegas 0.322

Dithering is already applied to the sky gradient. Increasing amount of dither is not good idea, cause of noise visibility. I dont remember game, but you should check if its not cause of some clouds texture.
